Industrial castor wheels can look similar at first glance, but the right choice depends on the trolley, load, mounting method and working environment. Selecting by wheel colour or diameter alone can lead to an unsuitable fit.
1. What load must each castor support?
Start with the total load of the trolley, including the trolley itself and its normal working load. Then consider how many castors will support that load in real use. Our Heavy Duty RPV Red PVC Castor Wheel range lists capacities from 200 kg to 280 kg per castor across 4", 5", 6" and 8" sizes. Final suitability still depends on the actual setup, load distribution and operating conditions.
2. Which wheel material suits the application?
Our available options include rubber wheels (MBN, MEB, ADR and AGR), PVC wheels (BKV, POV, RPV and DBV), PU wheels (MGU and MCU), PP wheels (MPB and MNY), and TPR wheels (MGR and PGR). Choose according to the floor condition, load, mounting requirement and the equipment being moved.
3. Do you need a top plate or thread stem mounting?
Top plate castors are mounted through a plate using the specified plate size and hole spacing. For a threaded fitting, the M12 Thread Stem Black PVC Castor Wheel is available in 1.5" and 2" options. Check mounting dimensions before ordering.
4. Which wheel diameter is appropriate?
Wheel diameter affects the overall trolley height and clearance. The RPV series ranges from 4" to 8", while our MGU Green PU Castor Wheel is available in 3", 4" and 5" sizes. Confirm wheel diameter, overall height and clearance for your equipment.
5. Do you need swivel, fixed, brake or wheel-only options?
Swivel castors allow direction changes, while fixed castors keep the trolley moving in one direction. Brake and wheel-only options are available for selected series. Please check the relevant product specification table before deciding.
6. What should you send when requesting a quotation?
Send a trolley or equipment photo, total working load, number of castors, plate size or stem size, required wheel diameter and overall height, floor condition, and preferred function. This helps us guide you towards a suitable product option.
